"Hello, my name is Shannon and I am the school psychologist at The Alliance School. I have been a school psychologist for 6 years. This is my first year working for The Alliance School, and my 5th year working in Milwaukee Public Schools. I have hoped to work at The Alliance School since starting to work in the district and was so excited when the position opened up. Being a part of this school has been absolutely fabulous. The students have been great to work with and the staff is amazing! I work at The Alliance School 4 half days a week and my office is in the old nurses office in room 102.

My job is to provide mental health services to the building. I also am the building coordinator, meaning that I am the person to talk to whenever anyone, be it parent or teacher, wants to make a referral for a student to be evaluated to determine if they need special education services. I provide 1:1 psychological services to students in the building and also work in group settings with students to work on a variety of social skills."

"Hi! My name is Francis Wyne and I am the secretary for The Alliance School. I have been with Alliance since October of 2006 and have been able to take on many roles. I have completed my Liberal Arts at MATC. In addition to Alliance, I continue to take part time classes and continue to learn. I truly believe people do use what they learn in high school and continue to add to both their social and academic education throughout life. The habits formed here can make life easier or harder and no matter what your circumstances you get to decide how you respond to life. I take pride in being on a staff that encourages, supports, and guides people deciding which habits will determine their character, and I look forward to meeting you."

College:

                Mount Mary College – 1994

                UW-Milwaukee – 2001

               Cambridge College – 2004

Since 1994:

I returned to MMC to work on certification for business ed. K-12 and left to attend UW-Milwaukee for certification in Special Education – 2003 graduate.  I then left Milwaukee to attend Cambridge College in Massachusetts for 5 weeks and earned my M.Ed. – 2004 graduate.  I joined the Milwaukee Lodge of Elks in 2001 and rose to the rank of Exalted Ruler, President, of the Milwaukee Lodge – 2007/08, the first woman in Milwaukee to do this. I later became Southeast District President of the Wisconsin Elks Association for two years and facilitated development of a District Association for the State. With my degrees, I worked for Ameritech and a local newspaper for a short time and volunteered at my daughter’s school, where I learned how much I loved working with children. This inspired another change of career – teaching. I have been in Milwaukee Public Schools since 1997 and officially teaching since 2001. In 2005, I started at Alliance School of Milwaukee where I plan on staying for a long time. It is a school that truly does not care if you are the skateboard dude or the Goth who wears make up. Students are students and should be celebrated for their diversity and encouraged to become independent, concerned, active and resourceful adults.

Paul Moore

Ph: (414) 267-5473

Paul W. Moore is the English Chair as well as a social studies and physical education teacher. He runs Game Club and periodically releases a publication of student writing and art.

Paul has been here since the start. He was involved in the planning stage ever since Tina approached in the halls of Washington High School, pitching her vision for a safe, student-centered school. Remembering his own traumatic high school experience as an 80’s punk in rural Tennessee, Paul was quick to jump on board and help students who suffer from similar harassment.

Born and raised in Tennessee, he promptly left at 18 to go to Boulder, Colorado, where he went to undergraduate school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and History. Then he moved to Milwaukee and went back to school, earning a Master’s degree in History. Having worked for years, during and after school, as projectionist and a manager at movie theaters, he decided to pursue a career as an urban educator. Now a veteran teacher, he loves teaching, using a variety of interpersonal tactics to inspire learning. He believes that the cornerstone of good teaching is developing an understanding of students and their lives.

He loves mountains and oceans. He loves spending time with his family. He loves playing hockey, listening to music, watching films, and writing. He also loves to play strategy board games.
